Why Lusco Fusco
Lusco-fusco is Portuguese for the hour around dusk and dawn. The light drops, the colours turn, the water goes flat and the garden cools down.
It is when everyone ends up outside. We named the place after it.
What happens here
Stay
Two bungalows among fruit trees, each with its own deck. Wi-Fi that holds up for a full workday.
Surf retreats
Coaching with Marina, a former pro surfer. Small groups, video review, and a state park to walk it off.
Atelier
Teun builds the furniture in the atelier on the property. You sleep, eat and work on it, and you can order your own.
Made here
The tables, benches and kitchen things in the bungalows come from the atelier next door. If you like something, ask.
Small pieces fit in a suitcase. Bigger ones are made to order and quoted with freight.
The place
Rio Vermelho sits on the north-east side of the island, between the lagoon and the Atlantic, next to the state park. Quieter than the busy beaches. Trails start nearby, the beach is a short walk.
